Baby Bonding! Thanks Bill!

Just got back to my normal home to work routine. My new son was born November 29th and my FMLA started and lasted until Feb 2nd. I have 6 more weeks to take off before the end of the year and, of course, 4 weeks of vacation to take. So, many thanks to Bill Clinton and his 'Family Medical Leave Act'. While I was out I added a ton of features and functionality to GarageSaleHomePage.com. I'll be posting a list of new and cool things you can do. Also started to play with YouTube videos to help new users get started. Even started some things for future use like a training newsletter. All great and fun things!

Garage Sales at thier all time high!

This article at the NY Times has got it right. Garage Sales are at a record high especially at the free online garage sale web sites. Garage sales are a great source of cash for those without jobs and with the extra burden of a high mortgage brought on by an Adjustable Rate Mortgage. GarageSaleHomePage.com is seeing new items listed throughout the day and many new virtual garage and yard sales started every day.

For the shoppers the deals are outstanding. Desperate folks are letting go some great items, not just valuable furniture, even nostalgic pieces that would otherwise never make it to a yard or garage sale. There are examples across the country of multi-family sales from folks moving out of houses into apartments. There is just no way to pack all their belongings into an apartment.

This is certainly sad news but at least there is a way for folks to generate some needed cash. Keep shopping and looking for great deals they are just around the corner!!

Royalty Yard Sale

From The Guardian is a neat announcement of a royal yard sale. This one includes a silk purse embroidered by Queen Marie Antoinette in her prison cell. Probably not at yard sale prices but certainly a rare opportunity even for those that have the kind of pocket change needed for an item like this. You can read about it here.

Charity Yard Sale

Just found this Gwyneth Paltrow will be hosting a sale of her old cast-off's for charity. November 7th and 9th. It's in London's East End, so if you have any good friends in the area be sure to tell them.

Free online coupons and savings

Sometimes a near garage sale deal can be had with an online coupon. The online coupon deals are most often new but you can even find deals on refurbished and re-manufactured deals. I got my daughter a great deal on a refurbished all-in-one computer online and with a coupon. No way could I have found a better deal. Be sure to deal with reputable online resellers. My newest find for free online coupons is coupons.moneyjibe.com. MoneyJibe.com is also a great place to find many deals and online specials from overstock.com, Amazon,Tiger Direct and more.
